Ralph Waldo Taylan took up his Bachelor's Degree in Violin at the University of the Philippines College of Music. He is also an alumnus of the Philippine High School for the Arts Batch 2001. He joined the National Music Competition for Young Artists (NAMCYA) in 2005 where he was an Honorable Mention, and 2008 where he won the 2 place in the Violin Category C. He was featured as a soloist in Paco Park Presents last April. He took part in different international youth camps and orchestras, namely the Southeast Asian Youth Orchestra 2004, 2005 and 2008, and the Asian Youth Orchestra 2006 and 2007. Recently, he took part in the 1st Asian Amateur Orchestra Festival in Fukuoka, Japan last August, 2011.
He was assistant concertmaster of the Manila Symphony Orchestra, and currently a member of Filharmonika. He is also a faculty of the Strings Department of the UP College of Music Extension Program, and is. also taking up his Master of Music Degree in Violin at the University of the Philippines College of Music
